How famous is this red Jungle Bird shirt? Worn by Tom Selleck on several episodes and opening credits during the original Magnum PI TV show, this bold combination playing palm fronds and purple parrots off a bright red background was featured in the Smithsonian Museum of American History. The shirt became synonymous with Magnum PI and is often referred to as "the Magnum PI shirt". The pattern known as “Jungle Bird” then resurfaced with the show’s reboot on an episode in November 2019, worn this time by Jay Hernandez. It has also made appearances on various TV shows and movies over the years. Fans of Magnum PI and the Detroit Tigers wear this shirt on "Magnum PI Day" at Comerica Park, which is typically the last Sunday home game in August.
